Find the 3 Stories Controlling You

Identify the invisible beliefs shaping every decision.

You have hundreds of stories running in the background. About yourself. About what's possible. About how life works.

But three of them run the show:

  1. Who you think you are

  2. What you think you deserve

  3. What you believe is possible for you

These three scripts determine your ceiling. Until you name them, they own you.

Jennifer discovered this at 52. She'd been "trying" to lose weight for twenty years. Always starting. Always stopping. Always back to square one.

Then I asked her: "What do you believe is true about you and weight?"

Without hesitation: "I'm always going to be heavy. It's just who I am."

There it was. Story #1. Who she thought she was.

The diet plans didn't fail. Her story made success impossible.

The Three Scripts:

Script #1: Identity — "I am ____" statements

  • "I'm not a morning person"

  • "I'm not good at finishing things"

  • "I'm just not disciplined"

Script #2: Worthiness — "I don't deserve ____" beliefs

  • "Success is for other people"

  • "I don't deserve to be happy"

  • "Good things don't happen to people like me"

Script #3: Possibility — "I could never ____" limits

  • "I could never run a marathon"

  • "I could never start a business"

  • "I could never be that person"

Every decision you make runs through these three filters.

Your 5-Minute Story Excavation:

Write down your "Big Three" stories. Be brutally honest:

Who I think I am:
Example: "I'm bad at sticking to things"

What I think I deserve:
Example: "I don't deserve success without struggle"

What I believe is possible for me:
Example: "I'll never be as fit as I was in my twenties"

Now circle the one that hurts most. The one that makes your stomach tight when you read it.

That's your real script. The one running everything.

This Week's Story Rewrite:

MON: Realize your story is running your life ✓
TUE: Identify the 3 core stories controlling everything ←
WED: Rewrite one story in 5 minutes
THU: Challenge the "who am I to..." narratives
FRI: Prove your new story through action
SAT: See how new stories compound over decades
SUN: Claim your identity as the author
